An extraordinarily rare Rolex created in 1942 recently sold for a world record price of $1.16 million at Christies auction house in Geneva Switzerland. The over sized stainless steel split seconds chronograph wristwatch Ref. 4113 was never sold to the public. It was designed and given to celebrities in the auto racing world. Only twelve were produced, and eight are known to have survived. The rare steel split second chronograph fetched the highest price ever paid at auction for a Rolex timepiece.
